ECOWAS Young Graduate Immersion Programme 2027: Application, Requirements & Deadline

 What is the ECOWAS Young Graduate Immersion ProgrammeThe ECOWAS Young Graduate Immersion Programme (YGP) is a yearly initiative of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). It offers fresh graduates from ECOWAS member countries the opportunity to gain one year of professional experience within ECOWAS institutions, agencies, and departments.

The programme is designed to help young graduates build practical skills, strengthen their CVs, and actively contribute to regional development across West Africa.

When Will Registration for the 2027 Programme Commence?

The official registration dates for the 2027 programme have not yet been announced.

However, based on the 2026 cycle, which opened in late August 2025 and closed on 21 September 2025, it is reasonable to expect that the 2027 application window may open between August and September 2026, with a similar deadline period.

To prepare ahead:

Have all required documents ready by mid-2026

Regularly monitor the official ECOWAS portal for announcements

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for the ECOWAS Young Graduate Immersion Programme, applicants must:

Be a citizen of an ECOWAS member state (e.g. Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, etc.)

Fall within the official youth age bracket

(The 2026 programme accepted applicants up to 32–35 years — always confirm the exact age limit in the official call)

Possess at least a Bachelor’s degree, HND, or higher qualification (Master’s/PhD or equivalent)

Demonstrate motivation to learn, grow professionally, and contribute to regional development

Required Documents

Prepare the following documents in advance to ensure a smooth application process:

  • Academic Degree Certificate(s) (PDF)
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) — professionally formatted (PDF)
  • Motivation/Cover Letter explaining your interest in the programme
  • National ID Card (PDF or JPEG)
  • Any additional documents requested (e.g. transcripts, certificates)

  • Create an account on the portal
  • Complete the online application form
  • Upload all required documents
  • Submit your application before the deadline

Programme Duration

Only successful applicants will be contacted via email.

The programme typically runs for 12 months — in previous cycles, from January to December. Selected participants are placed in ECOWAS institutions or affiliated offices, where they gain hands-on experience while contributing to the organisation’s work.
